Wait For It

3 posts in 2 weeks? You'd think I didn't have a job or something. Well, as of about 4:00 pm yesterday you'd be right.

Hooray for unemployment??

So in the spirit of embracing this most recent change and the road ahead, I share the following:

Life doesn't discriminate
Between the sinners and the saints
It takes and it takes and it takes
And we keep living anyway
We laugh and we cry
And we break
And we make our mistakes
And if there's a reason I'm still alive
When so many have died
Then I'm willing to wait for it
I'm willing to wait for it...

Wait for it
Wait for it
I am the one thing in life I can control
I am inimitable
I am an original
I’m not falling behind or running late
I’m not standing still
I am lying in wait

"By now you should have somehow figured out what you gotta do..."

And now, for the latest in news that is probably of little interest to anyone but myself.

AHEM...

About 10 years ago I attended a party with some friends. At this party music played from a large stereo where our host had plugged in something called an iPod. Later that evening another friend plugged in her iPod, playing a cover of one of my favorite songs. The song was "Wonderwall" by Oasis, but this version was sung by someone named Ryan Adams. There's no telling when a song will grab you. Even a song you've heard dozens of times before. But this song, playing softly under a din of unintelligible party noise, grabbed me.

On June 2nd, this Ryan Adams fellow (the former Mr. Mandy Moore as of late) is performing at Red Butte Gardens. With the previously-blogged-about Jenny Lewis, no less. A few years ago I passed up the opportunity to see The Civil Wars in concert, telling myself they'd make their way back to Utah again someday. Well, that didn't happen (kicks self), nor will it ever happen (kicks self again).

So having learned my lesson, I'm afraid anyone wishing to engage me on June the 2nd will be out of luck.
